Baldwin Technology’s subsidiary, Baldwin Japan, has secured a US $2.6 million order from Nikkan Sports Newspaper Printing Company, which is part of the Asahi Newspaper Group. The Nikkan order is for a wide range of Baldwin’s press accessory and control systems, which will be fitted to four new Mitsubishi newspaper presses, scheduled to be installed in September 2009 and March 2010 at Nikkan’s plant in Tsukiji, Tokyo. The Baldwin equipment will include automatic guide roller cleaning equipment, automatic press washers, super washers and spray dampening systems.

“We are delighted with this major order from such an important Japanese printing group,” says Dr Ichi Imafuku, President, Baldwin Japan. “This is an endorsement of Baldwin’s focus on developing technologies that significantly increase press productivity and print quality, while reducing waste and operating costs as well as limiting the negative effect on the environment. Baldwin now leads the world in process automation technology for the printing industry and we expect to be announcing further orders in Japan over the coming months.”
