1918: Baldwin is founded in Baldwin, New York by William Geggenheimer. The first product sold was the Baldwin Press Washer, Geggenheimer’s invention which reduced the cleaning time of offset printers from seconds to minutes.

1960s: Harold Geggenheimer, William Geggenheimer’s son, becomes co-president of Baldwin, alongside Wendell Smith.

1968: Baldwin begins international expansion, starting with Baldwin Japan.

1971: Baldwin Germany

1976: Baldwin launches Automated Blanket Cleaning System, a technology that automatically cleans all of the blankets in a printing press, improving press uptime, print quality and printer safety. The technology would later receive the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation Award.

1980: Baldwin U.K

1983: Wendell Smith and a group of other leaders make a management buyout of Baldwin.

1987: Baldwin goes public.

1989: Baldwin China

1990s: Baldwin acquires Kansa Corp., Enkel Corp., Stobb, Misomex and several more.

1991: Baldwin Australia

1993: Gerald Nathe is elected president of Baldwin.

1995: Baldwin acquires Arotec Group. Baldwin also unveils Prepac, a pre-impregnated cleaning platform for its Automatic Blanket Cleaning System, which made the cleaning process faster, cleaner and environmentally friendly, while simplifying printers’ work and making it safer.

1997: Baldwin France

2000: Baldwin India

2012: BW Forsyth Partners, the investment arm of multi-billion-dollar global manufacturing and engineering consulting firm Barry-Wehmiller, acquires all the shares in the company and takes Baldwin private.

2014: Baldwin acquires Web Printing Controls Inc.

2017: Baldwin acquires Air Motion Systems and creates AMS Spectral UV business segment. Baldwin also acquires Ahlbrandt and QuadTech.

2018: Baldwin forms Vision Systems segment, uniting PC Industries, Web Printing Controls and QuadTech and providing a portfolio of vision systems that are among the industry's most advanced core management inspection technology solutions that helps its customers to achieve print quality perfection.

2020: Joe Kline becomes CEO of Baldwin. Baldwin acquires Western Quartz.

2021: Baldwin unveils XP Quatro Series™ LED-UV Curing Module, harnessing double the power of standard LED curing solutions..
